If you’re looking for WordPress Multiuser installs on *.edu sites, you can replace inurl:blog with inurl:wp-signup.php to find these. May even be able to obtain your own site as some colleges and universities allow open installs as some schools don’t restrict their professors and staff to use inhouse email solutions.

Getting backlink for .edu and .gov is very important to improve serp and pagerank. But I think we need to post comment with something relevant and valuable to the .edu or .gov sites, it keep our links still there or will be approved from admin although spam the sites with full of nasty url.

Thanks a lot for this searching tip. Admittedly these .gov .edu backlinks are very hard to locate. While you can find them thru searching but then acquiring links from them is another challenge. But with this technique, I won’t bother searching dozens of them and at least getting a few successes will be great.

Those are great tips, thank you! I’ve never been able to get .gov and .edu backlinks so far, but this seems like a pretty foolproof solution. I’ll be sure to give it a try. Has the author of this blog got any luck with acquiring an .edu backlink? Just wondering.

I can confirm that acquiring .edu links helps with traffic and rankings. Two week’s work has seen my daily traffic climb to 100 page views a day from about half that, and I am getting closer to the front page for a very difficult and important keyword. However, .edu is another matter – hard to find and place!
