Page Rank is Google’s way of giving a specific value to how popular your website is. It is based on the number of ‘votes’ other websites cast for your website. A ‘vote’ is simply when another website places a link to your website on one of their pages. Generally, the more ‘votes’ or ‘backlinks’ you have pointing to your website, the higher your Page Rank will be. Page Rank is one of the many factors that Google considers while determining your rank in search results.
To check the pagerank, you need to have a plugin installed in your browser whcih will show you the pagerank. You may use the Google Toolbar which is the easiest and the most common or the SEO Quake bar, whcih i’d recommend for advanced users.
Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword appears on your page, as compared to the total number of words on the page.
SEO(Search Engine Optimizaion) is defined as the art or practice of manipulating/optimizing the on-page and off-page factors of a website to make it more conducive to receive organic search engine traffic and to make the site more search engine friendly.
On-page optimization includes the SEO techniques that can be applied to the website itself such as modifying keyword frequency in the URL, Title, Headings, Hypertext Links and Body text, making the site more crawler-friendly and all other methods that include changing the look and presentation of the website.
Off-page optimization are strategies for search engine optimization that are done off the pages of a website to maximize its performance in the search engines for target keywords related to the page content. These techniques can include building backlinks and other such methods.
Internal linking is the manner in which you link to pages within your own website to flow your link juice(Pagerank) towards them.
Links on a particular web page leading to other web pages on a different domain are called outbound links.
Inbound links are links from pages on external sites linking back to your site.
TrustRank is a link analysis technique described in a paper by Stanford University and Yahoo! researchers for semi-automatically separating useful webpages from spam. Its an alternative to the Google Pagerank that is used by Yahoo to rank websites.
A no follow link is an HTML attribute that is used to give instructions to search engines that the hyperlink is not to influence the ranking of the search engines index. In simpler terms, the rel=”nofollow” attribute once assigned to a link makes it invisible or rather it is ignored by the major search engine bots and hence passes on no link juice.
PageRank is a link analysis algorithm, named after Larry Page, used by the Google Internet search engine that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set.
